Student Service Learning Opportunities

Hosted by The Washington Center for International Education, two upcoming Student Service Learning programs are available to students age 15 and up (all programs are conducted in English).

  • YOUTH FACING RACISM This dynamic SSL program for high school students includes online small group discussions as well as a service project completed at Corhaven Graveyard, a historical burial ground for African Americans who were enslaved in Shenandoah County, Virginia. Starts week of Sept 27, required field trip is Saturday, October 2. (all sessions required for SSL credit hours) 10 SSL Credit hours.
     
  • YOUTH FACING THE GLOBAL REFUGEE & MIGRATION CRISIS - This program has two components: 1) a Diplomacy Simulation designed by the U.S. Department of State introduces students to the language of “stakeholders” in international migration and border crises, and 2) an Advocacy Service Project engages students with actual domestic and global stakeholders interested in real-world migration policies and the care of refugees. ALL ONLINE: Monday, Sept 27, 4:30-6:00pm; Wednesday, September 29, 4:30-6:00pm; Friday, October 1, 4:30-5:30pm. 8 SSL Credit hours

  • Students may please click here to access the preliminary application form. Indicate which program you are applying for.
  • Students are required to submit a short personal statement explaining why you want to take part in this program and what you hope to learn from your participation. This should also indicate which high school you attend, your current grade level, and how you heard about this program. Submit by email.

Notre équipe de Rochambeau Boys a remporté un match de haute lutte, pour pouvoir participeret de GAGNER la finale sur le sol du mythique United Center lors du match d'ouverture des Bulls de Chicago en NBA.

Our Rochambeau Boys team won a hard fought game, to be able to compete and WIN the finals on the floor of the mythical United Center in the opening game of the Chicago Bulls NBA game.
