Chaque trimestre, les élèves de la classe d’espagnol de l’école élémentaire ont un projet culturel. Ce trimestre, les élèves de CM1 et CM2 Espagnol Honors ont fait un projet sur l’artiste espagnol Pablo Picasso. Ils ont d'abord lu une biographie et en ont appris davantage sur les différentes périodes de sa peinture ainsi que sur les événements historiques tels que le bombardement du village de Guernica. Ils ont aussi appris et récité une poésie intitulée : “Este Picasso es un caso” (de Carlos Reviejo). Pour finaliser ce projet, ils ont fait une sculpture sur toile selon le style cubiste. Les élèves se sont beaucoup amusés à créer les portraits déstructurés, tout en découvrant de nouvelles techniques d’art telles que l'impression sur toile et la couture à la main.

What Fun Picasso Is!

Each trimester, students in the Spanish class at the elementary school have a cultural project. This trimester, the 4th and 5th grade Spanish Honors students did a project on the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso. First they read a biography and learned about the different periods of his painting as well as historical events such as the bombing of the town of Guernica. They also learned and recited a funny poem entitled: "Este Picasso es un caso" (by Carlos Reviejo). To finalize this project, they made a sculpture on canvas in the cubist style. The students had a lot of fun making the unstructured portraits, while learning new art techniques such as printing on canvas and hand sewing.
