Milla Hebert, une élève de 3E, a reçu un Golden Key pour sa soumission provocante " Bones " lors des 2023 DC Scholastic Regional Writing Awards dans la catégorie de Flash Fiction. Elle rejoint 132 autres lauréats de la Clé d'or pour recevoir la plus haute distinction en matière d'écriture. En mars, sa soumission sera inscrite au concours des Scholastic National Awards 2023. 
 
Milla avait déjà été récompensée en 2022 par une Clé d'Argent pour son texte "The Wait" dans la catégorie Science Fiction et Fantasy et quatre autres Mentions Honorables. À Rochambeau, Milla a récemment fondé "Les Lumières de Rochambeau", un club et une publication de lycéens qui vise à rassembler des artistes et des auteurs français dans un même lieu. Le club prévoit de publier sa première itération cette année et inclura un concours auquel tous les élèves du Collège et du Lycée pourront participer. Milla étudie la possibilité de trouver des sponsors pour soutenir les efforts du club. 
 
Milla est fière d'avoir vraiment embrassé son amour de l'écriture et d'avoir exploré le pouvoir des mots tant en français qu'en anglais. En parlant avec Milla, elle a dit que "lire et écrire en français a renforcé mes capacités créatives en anglais - et vice versa". D'ici à ce qu'elle obtienne son diplôme, Milla a hâte de perfectionner sa prose en participant à plusieurs concours d'écriture locaux et nationaux.

Milla Hebert, a student in 3E, received a Golden Key award for her provocative submission « Bones » at the 2023 DC Scholastic Regional Writing Awards in the Flash Fiction category. She joins another 132 Golden Key recipients to receive the highest distinction in writing. In March, her submission will be entered into the 2023 Scholastic National Awards Contest. 
 
Milla had already been recognized in 2022 with a Silver Key award for her submission "The Wait" in the Science Fiction and Fantasy writing category and four other Honorable Mentions. Back at Rochambeau, Milla recently founded "Les Lumières de Rochambeau," a student club and publication that aims to bring together French artists and authors under one roof. The club plans to publish its first iteration this year and will include a contest where all students from the College and Lycee can participate. Milla is exploring the possibility of getting sponsors to support the club's efforts. 
 
Milla is proud of truly embracing her love of writing and exploring the power of words in both French and English. In speaking with Milla, she shared that "reading and writing in French has strengthened my creative capabilities in English - and vice versa." Until she graduates, Milla looks forward to furthering her prose by participating in several local and national writing contests.
