Marie Comninos reflected on her journey at Rochambeau:

I was born in Morocco to Greek parents and grew up in France, where I completed my studies to become an elementary school teacher. I have a son who completed his entire education at Rochambeau, from preschool through the baccalauréat. I have a deep love for reading, cooking, and traveling. Every summer, I return to Greece, to the island of Karpathos, the birthplace of my family and my husband’s family, and a place very dear to my heart. The profession of flight attendant has always been a dream of mine, and I hold a special affection for the elegant navy-blue suit and matching scarf, which for me symbolize elegance and escape, much like the Air France flight attendants. My long career at Rochambeau has given me countless precious memories. Among the most moving are the moments when former students knock on my classroom door to introduce me to their child, whom they are now enrolling in our school. These moments will forever remain etched in my heart and represent, for me, the greatest form of recognition."

When asked what Rochambeau means to her, Sylvie Chazelle shared:

I have been part of Rochambeau for 41 years. I started very young, at 24, and have built my entire professional life here, driven by a passion for teaching that has never waned. For me, Rochambeau is much more than a school, it’s almost like a family. I know so many people here, I’ve accompanied generations of students, and I later enrolled my three children here. Some parents I met 30 or 40 years ago have now become very close friends. These deep connections give true meaning to my commitment. With my husband, we helped create “Vacances en français” during the summer, and later the Rochambeau Club. These initiatives truly came to life thanks to us and marked the beginning of an educational and human adventure that remains very close to my heart. What I love most about Rochambeau is also the freedom and trust I’ve been given to imagine and carry out highly creative projects. I have created a mosaic wall, large exhibitions using recycled materials, a huge paper mural, and the school’s Tree of Life at Maplewood. These projects have enriched my teaching practice just as much as they have enriched me personally. Above all, it is the children who inspire me. They challenge me, motivate me, and give me the desire to keep going every day. It is thanks to them that I still love teaching as much as I did all those years ago."

Agnès Finucan said:

I first discovered Rochambeau through a friend who was teaching here at the time. Working in admissions has been a joy to watch the Rochambeau family grow. If you stay here for 30 years it is because you know it’s the whole package: your children attend the school, you get to know everyone, and the community becomes your family."

Marianne Amin also shared a few words on what Rochambeau means to her:

I first got involved with the school because my nephew asked me to help with lunch in his classroom. Little by little, I became involved in other tasks. Before that, I was a chemist. And even today, I still hear people say, “I hated chemistry!” Yet there are still many of chemists around! I stayed at Rochambeau because I loved the atmosphere of the school and the work I was doing, I didn’t notice the years passing by. I was even surprised to realize how many years had gone by."

Rochambeau feels fortunate to have witnessed your journey for more than three decades. Thank you for your dedication and years spent in our school.
